8 of July, 2010 Chandler company participated in Kazakh-German economic forum “Economic breakthrough of bilateral relationship: Germany input into innovative industry development and modernization of Kazakhstani economy” which was held in Astana. Event was organized by the Ministry of industry and new technologies of Republic of Kazakhstan and “KAZNEX INVEST”, national agency of export and investments. President of Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Abishevi4 Nazarbaev and Federal Canceller of Germany, Angela Markel took part at the meeting.
Cooperation in development of processing industry of Kazakhstan , drawling of German direct investments, transfer of high technologies and know-how were negotiated at the forum. As a result, considerable legal-contractual base was formed between Kazakhstan and Germany.
During the forum a memorandum on cooperation in the field of containerized shipping was signed with “Kaztransservice”. Joint stock Company “Kaztransservice” operates in container park of Kazakhstan rail way administration. “Kaztransservice” is a subsudary and assignee of all rights and obligations of a subsidiary of state enterprise Republican State Enterprise “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”. The company was found in 1999 and for that moment it has one of the biggest container parks and fitting platforms on the territory of Kazakhstan.
Meetings in Ministry of transport and ministry of industry and new technologies of RK were conducted by Chandler administration. Both sides came to conclusion that it is essential to develop transport system in Kazakhstan. Chandler together with the Ministry of transport has established a working group involving higher education institutions of Kazakhstan for a full elaboration of the transport component of RK. This group is to study the optimal capacity of delivery of project cargoes to Kazakhstan by all modes. Results of this work will increase the transparency of the transport system of Kazakhstan, which will have a positive impact on the growth of investment attractiveness of the country.
During negotiations with the Ministry of transport of RK great emphasis were placed on the use of inland waterways of the Republic of Kazakhstan. One of the main routes of shipping may become water way of Irtysh River. Irtysh is the second longest indraught in the world after the Missouri. It flows through the territory of China (525 km), Kazakhstan (1,835 kilometers) and Russia (2,010 kilometers) and can serve as an excellent corridor for the delivery of project cargoes. Regular navigation on Irtysh river is open for 3784 km from downstrea of Ust-Kamenogorsk hydroelectric station to the mouth of the Gulf of Ob. Semipalatinsk and Pavlodar waterways Office confirmed the opportunity of passage of inland water transport on the Irtysh in the navigation period from April 24 to November 2. Waterway office also provided us with full information on the types of available boats, tug fleet and port-repair infrastructure.
Department of motorways of Kazakhstan also confirmed the possibility of inland transportation of heavy, oversized cargo to Astana, Temirtau, Almaty and other cities of Kazakhstan.
